Heads and long tubes on: first start
Over the last couple weeks I installed new heads and headers to Cicada
- SDPC SDRCNC799STG2, which were on closeout for $1600 for a pair of brand new 799 heads with a stage 2.5 job on them. They are reportedly done by texas speed
- Morel 7717 lifters
- New GM trays
- BTR pushrods
- BTR rocker bolts
- Michigan motorsports MLS gaskets
- PQY headbolt kit
- Speed engineering headers
Tear down resulted in a very dirty boy.

I cleaned it up with CRC gasket remover, a lisle carbide scraper and 3m grey scuff pads. The gasket remover is magic. Careful with the carbide scraper you can gouge your block.

MLS gaskets in and studs. The PQY studs tested very similar to the low end ARP studs. The MM gaskets appear to be identical to the BTR ones. Stock 0.051″ thickness

rebuilt with the heads on. There was plenty of room to slide the head on with all the head studs installed. PQY doesn’t provide much in the way of instructions, so I followed the ARP 8740 kit ones.

First start with open headers. OMG was it loud. Sorry neighbors.
I also have some Bosch Fuel Injectors 62203 to go on at the tuners. The teeny tiny ’99 injectors were barely keeping up with a cam. 36# nominal, so on a c5 fuel system it should be ~42lbs.
