The wing is on: 9 Lives chassis mount

Yesterday I put my wang on.

Install wasn’t too bad.

  1. Pop off the bumper
  2. Measure the wing mount distance
  3. Put the uprights on the car and mark
  4. triple check
  5. Notch the tub
  6. triple check
  7. drill the mount holes
  8. mount the uprights
  9. lay out tape on the rear deck
  10. Use a square to transfer the upright dimensions to the tape on the deck
  11. remove the uprights
  12. loosely mount the bumper
  13. Use the square to transfer the lines back to the bumper
  14. cut the bumper slots
  15. remove the bumper and remount the uprights
  16. They should slide in pretty snugly but may need a little filing to adjust
  17. Cut the bumper foam around the uprights
  18. remount the bumper and accessories

There was a ton of insulation inside the bumper. More evidence of mice I guess

Took about 4-5 hrs to do. Mostly the upright measuring and drilling. No splitter yet. JC said I can run it zero or slightly negative and it should be fine, just counter the lift I get from the hatch. I need a quick release one and 9 lives doesn’t have their c5 one out. ETA this winter….

I also had an autox today. The start was super tight, hard 90 right out of the gate with the cones spaced so tight there was barely room to get my car through so I had to be super conservative. Miata sized hole. Lots of issues with people missing the turn on the double back at the start of the course.
