ABS codes sorted: BMW brake switch + fault light

Finished up chasing down the ABS codes today

I installed the brake switch from above and it works perfectly. It’s also wired exactly like BMW originally did now instead of through a complicated mess. When I did the original setup I thought it was odd that INPA listed the brake as “on”  when the pedal was up through the relay setup Alex said to use in the docs. I confirmed that was intended. Now with the 100% textbook wiring- GND when pedal up, open when pedal down, INPA reads on and off in what seems like a more logical manner. 100% use the new brake switch and harness pigtail if you try this.

I also installed the ABS fault light that I had left out previously. I wanted to mount it on the blank panel to the left of the gauges but the amount of stuff  you have to take off to get to the back of the gauges is absurd. Still in my eyeline and it only took 4 screws to get to the back of this panel.

I also painted the knee panel red since it was coming off. I’m planning on doing the lower doors too. Looks way better than the stone grey that it came with. I need to find a way to make the steering column fit stay together better.

I also mounted my ultra chiller setup in the back. I’m not sure this will be upright enough. I’d like to have better access to load it, but it’s not too bad with the hatch. It would fit behind the driver’s seat, but it would be really hard to get water in and out of it back there.

Non-car news, I got a 14k/12k portable AC for the garage and used it for the first time today. What a difference. Usually by now in the summer I have a headache in the evening from all the water loss sweating in the garage for the afternoon.
