Ice mode on the MK60

Mk60 will still go into ice mode?  That’s a little disappointing as constant oem abs ice mode engagement was a big part of the reason I sold my C5Z.

My admittedly imperfect understanding of the C5 brake system is that it used the abs to electronically reduce rear brake line pressure as the hydromechanical balance of the system is very rear biased.   Looking at caliper piston sizes and rotor diameter leverage seems to bear this out.  Switching to the square tire set up theoretically should make this worse.  Is this something that you have noticed?  I know you have an aftermarket wilwood set up.  Can you read the Mk60 to see if the rears consistently lock up first?

I still need to go out with the ABS and rebalance with my prop valve. That might be part of it. If the rears are locking up super early it might be causing the logic to freak out. I wouldn’t read too much into this as it’s likely a teething problem rather than an ongoing one from what I hear.

I read my ABS codes with INPA

7 errors related to Vin/canbus issues

1 error related to brake pad sensors- apparently if you bridge a few wires in the harness you can make that go away.

1 error that was a FR speed sensor startup detection. It was at 3 km/h so probably not what I’m looking for

1 error that is a brake light switch plausibility error at 109 km/h- That’s probably what caused the issue.

I validated all the sensors are reading and rebled the brake system for good measure. Not that I was having a lot of pedal issue, but it always seems to take more than one bleed to get to a solid pedal any time I open brake lines.

The brake pedal light is going through a relay right now. It needs a normally closed connection to ground off the pedal. On pedal that connection should break. I think I have a less janky solution that will work.

This switch is the same as the c5, but with an extra set of pins. I’m not using the 4 pin outlet at all on mine, but some cars might use 2 of those pins

I also got a wiring harness for it Standard s-1041. Rock auto carries them. If you’re looking at the brake harness pigtails be aware this one is listed as ‘clutch’ the brake is mirrored and don’t plug in. I got it off ebay since I found it cheaper, but I don’t know how long the listing will last.

When the pedal is not depressed, that switch is closed (switch button down) when you get on the pedal you open it. That should be a much simpler, less failure prone method to wire the pedal.

I also drained out the hose water and replaced with distilled again. In HPtuners I’ve also modified my fan curves to have them come on earlier and especially the 2nd fan turn on earlier so that it’ll keep cooler in grid at autox. Also recharged the AC a bit.

Tomorrow night or on the 4th I’ll tackle the brake wiring. I might just turn my prop valve up quite a bit to make sure the fronts are locking first if I don’t get a chance to have someone help me set it.
