Rebuild plan: bearings, lifters, hone

I decided to do the cheap version of the refresh- New bearings all around, lifters, dingle hone the cylinders, and clean everything up. I’ll have a shop polish the crank and check if the rods need resized once I have the arp hardware. 

After checking shop prices it was going to be like $2k extra for aftermarket rods with the required rebalance, and all I’d gain is about 0.5 more compression from a mini dome. I decided the stroker wasn’t the best choice for track work, and that would have been like $4k anyways. Might as well look for a l92 block at that price. 

Of course you can’t open it up without a few upgrades.

• ARP rod bolts (8740 should be plenty for 7k rpm)
• Improved racing crank scraper to keep oil in the pan. Claims about 2.5% hp gain.
• Finally install the 2 piece batwing with the improved racing trapdoors
• Slightly bigger cam- summit 8707 r1. Stage 2. The previous one was sized to make ls6 beehives work. This is closer to what I would have chosen with my current spring package
• Improved racing oil pickup brace
• Ls6 pcv system and valley cover
• improved racing oil catch can. (I had a catch can previously, but it was a PITA to drain and this is designed for the ls6 system)
• New big oval air filter to replace the stock box with a K&N
• Finally install the accusump that’s been sitting in the garage for a year
• If I’m ambitious, install the standalone front plate oil cooler to replace my integrated EOC in the radiator.
